Name: Christina I.J. "Chris" DeVowe Date: February 21st, 2005 Death Notice: Mrs. Christina I.J. “Chris” DeVowe, age 58, died unexpectedly Monday morning, February 21, 2005. She was born April 18, 1946 in Aberdeen, Scotland to Harry J. and Christina (Thomson) Collis, and had resided in Muskegon since 1947. Mrs. DeVowe worked as a teacher’s aide, lunch lady, and playground assistant for Marquette School. She was a member of Hope Reformed Church and had a love for all children. She also enjoyed painting ceramics with her husband. On July 1, 1972, she married Dennis DeVowe in Muskegon, and he survives her along with 2 sons, Dan (Sherry) DeVowe of Grand Haven, Jon DeVowe of Norton Shores; grandson, Bryson; brother, Joe (Bonnie) Collis of Twin Lake; sister, Jane (Russ) Warren of Muskegon; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Daniel Collis; and sister Kay Collis. SERVICES will be 3:00 PM Thursday at Hope Reformed Church with Rev. Steven Hyma officiating. Burial will be in Mona View Cemetery. VISITATION will be from 2-3:00 PM Thursday at the church. MEMORIALS to the Hope Reformed Church Memorial Fund will be appreciated.
