Sytsema VanZantwick Chapel Named Best Funeral Home

Grand Haven, MI – Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services’s VanZantwick Chapel has been named Best Funeral Home in Grand Haven, Michigan. Readers of the Grand Haven Tribune voted for Sytsema in the 2021 People’s Choice awards, in which the community’s best businesses, organizations and destinations are selected.

The VanZantwick Chapel on Washington Avenue has been in operation since 1926, serving families with compassion and expertise. Passing through several generations of one of Grand Haven’s founding families, it was eventually entrusted to the Sytsema family to carry on the legacy of exemplary funeral service.

“We are proud to be a part of this community and to spend each day interacting with and serving its families,” says Craig Sytsema, manager of the VanZantwick Chapel. “We view every service we help plan as an opportunity to create a lasting memory shared among loved ones.”

The award is especially meaningful this year as communities all over the world have been impacted by the COVID-19 virus. Particular strain was put on funeral home staff to deal with an influx of work while also adapting services to be possible in a time when gathering was greatly restricted. Where socially distanced alternatives could not be made in person, technological capabilities were added and enhanced so that services could be virtual and reach every loved one safely.

“The last year has been a huge challenge, but this award has reminded us how important the work is,” says Todd Sytsema, manager of the Sytsema Chapel. “We are so grateful to our community for their kindness and support.”
