I'll Always remember Grandma sticking up for Ashley when Adam and I would pick on her.
Grandma came to stay with us certain times out of the year, I'll never forget when I was sitting on the couch arm. (I have a bad left knee if I sit on it incorrectly it dislocates) I went to stand up and it dislocated which caused me to gasp loudly, Super grandma came flying out of her room and grabbed my leg to help extend it and POP my knee went back into place. What an amazing woman, I love and miss you Grandma Thede!!

Dear Thede Family,
Long before Gene and I knew you as part of our family....we met and loved Etta, our OB nurse in 1973. I was in a very long labor and decided "I didn't want to do this anymore" when Mrs. Thede walked in and asked what is going on.....I told her I wanted to go home and not have a baby!!! She hug me and said "come on let's have a baby!!" Low and behold I relaxed and baby was ready. After she brought our beautiful son to us and asked what we planned to name him "Adam Michael Anderson" and she remarked that he is going to someday be a doctor.....why? AMA...American Medical Association!! Well our son is now a wonderful ER doctor in GR....Etta had that kind of wisdom. We loved her and no one can ever replace this wonderful woman.

It was with deep sadness I read of Etta’s death. The Army chose the OB field of nursing for me but, as a young nurse, she instilled a love for the area. At North Ottawa, she protected me, as a mother and mentored everyone, who worked “under” her. We were her team and developed close relationships. She was a hard worker and expected nothing less than the best from us and for each patient. Over my 35 year career at NOCH, there were many shifts I longed for the good ole days, nursing patients, not monitors and computers, and had time to give back rubs each night. Ironically, I can’t attend the visitation or funeral because I am attending a 2 day OB conference, in Cadillac. You have my sympathy, as you start your grief journey. She will be missed but no one can take away your memories or mine of the good ole days. Carol DeWitt RN
