To the MacDonald Family: Gretchen along with her sister were one of my cousins. I have fond memories of getting together with Gretchen up at the cottage in Upper Michigan or in Detroit. Since my family lived outside Chicago, we only would see her family about twice a year. Then as I started my family I lost contact with them but she was always on my mind and fortunately was able to see her at a family reunion in 1995, I remember as a child she would try to teach me how to play the piano since our family had an organ but it was different. She did teach me chop sticks on the piano. But it was at her dads cottage in upper Michigan that we had the most fun. All of us kids were tuck in bed up in a loft over looking the living room and in those days the cottage still had keroscene lamps so we could smell the kerrocene as we fell asleep. And also the bats flying around inside the cottage at night. Innocent days. And when up Gratichot Lake at night we kept warm by the lake with a nice fire. We had games that only us cousins would remember playing on the beaches most of which I cannot remember now. She is now back with her parents whom she loved dearly and her sister Carol plus two other cousins and their parents. She is at peace now. Prayers go out to the MacDonald Family. I missed her in life and miss her now.
