I remember being a little girl and going to my Grandpas and swimming in the lake. But I specifically remember him showing me the mint leaves that were growing outside and how you could pick them up and eat them. I will forever cherish the memories of playing cards and having dinner Wednesdays with my mom, my grandma Cheryl and my great Grandpa Harry.
I married the oldest daughter (Audra Fowler) of Harry's oldest daughter (Liz Smith) and got to know Harry more and more over our 31 years of marriage. He and Ann hosted our wedding reception in 1990 and it was a total blast. I always enjoyed Harry's interesting and wonderful nature. He told great stories, was always positive, and I am so thankful for the time I got to spend with him.
My grandpa is the most wonderful man you could ever meet you could always find him in his wood shop or traveling the open roads hunting the big game animals or spending time with his family my grandpa will always be in my heart forever I Love you Grandpa and will miss you tremendously
I will miss your wisdom of the many years of experience and the pure love of an understanding heart. You brought a little warmth, happiness, wisdom, and love to every soul that you touched . I am so very grateful for having such a wonderful grandpa like you I love you and I’ll miss you grandpa
There are so many great memories, hard to pick just one, but one of my favorites was while camping in the middle of nowhere, he showed us kids how to keep our pop and watermelon cool in the roots of a tree in the rivers edge....What an awesome man, sure wish GOD would have let us keep him a few more years.....until we meet again in our heavenly home for eternity, love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck...oh and THANK YOU for sharing your memories of my dad.
Although I didn't know Harry as well or as long some of you, I loved him just as much! How could you not love someone as special as Harry? He was kind, caring, gentle, compassionate, considerate, friendly, strong, wise, humble, determined, handsome, fun loving, thoughtful, generous, outgoing, funny, hard working, adventurous, non-judgmental, an amazing story teller, jack of all trades.......... He loved bluegrass, hunting, camping, his family, Carolyn and her family. He will truly be missed by MANY!!! My deepest sympathy to all who knew and loved him ~
My wonderful Step Dad, Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa ❤️ His love for his “step” family was unlimited! There was no “step” word in his vocabulary. He loved us all as his own and we loved him the same way. His legacy will live on and on. We have 40 plus years of many great memories. I will miss him so very much and my heart breaks for my children and grandchildren that are grieving so much. Rowan, 5 years old, who cried when told Great Grandpa went to heaven, said, “but he was only 92” 💙💔💙
