My first warm impression of Mary dates back to her visit to my parental home in Visby in 1949.I was 16, and it was a thrilling experience when Mary and her friend Rozanne arrived like nice breezes from the "big country in west" after the world war. We had a lot of fun and our friendship was then thoroughly fouded!
In Sweden Mary looked for family connections and my mother was one of them.Mary´s grandfather, Peter, was one brother of my grandma. He and his brother, Magnus, changed their familyname, Wallberg, to Wilsberg at the emigration to the US.
In 1983, Mary visited my brother Torsten´s family in Stockholm and mine in Gothenburg, when my wife, Lillemor, first met her. They had very much to discuss. Mary had always so many interests and was very openminded to new ideas.
In 1994 Mary arranged a quite fantastic "cousin"-meeting in Grand Haven. We will never forget those wonderful days, and all the hospitality that we met from Mary and her friends.
During the years, many letters and postcards have crossed the ocean and we will miss them and Mary´s sometimes microscopic handwriting. The magnifying glass may now be put aside! Mary´s very long and courageous struggle with various sequel after diseases has been very impressive and worthy of all admiration! May she now rest in peace!
