Alice graduated from Muskegon High School class of 1946. On June 5, 1954, she married the love of her life, Jonas “John” Savickas in Muskegon, MI. Together they cherished 65 years of endless memories filled with love and laughter. John preceded her in death on December 16, 2019. She was a dedicated employee of Teledyne Continental Motors, where she worked as a secretary for 40 years. Alice retired in 1986, when her grandson Andrew was born. She was a devoted and wonderful grandmother to both of her grandchildren. She was a faithful servant of Our Lord and Savior and was a longtime member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Alice enjoyed traveling and went on many trips over the years with family and friends. She and John loved going to Little River Casino, where she would press her luck playing slots. She even entered tournaments in Las Vegas. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, wonderful mother, doting grandmother and great-grandmother, and dear friend to so many. Alice’s kind and fun-loving spirit will truly be missed. She is survived by her daughter, Camille (Patrick) Gabris; 2 grandchildren, Andrew (Molly) Gabris and Cara Gabris; 2 great-grandchildren, Sammy and Jonas; and sister-in-law, Josephine Youngstrom. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Savickas; 3 brothers, Joseph Porth, Leo Porth and Phillip Porth; and 2 sisters, Katherine “Dede” Youngstrom and Sophia Warner. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 13, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 2929 McCracken St., Norton Shores, 49441. A Visitation with the family will be held one-hour prior. Internment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family would like to thank all who helped with Alice’s care in the later years of her life. In particular, the staff at North Ottawa Hospice and Robbinswood Assisted Living, as well as many others. Alice endured Alzheimer’s for over ten years, but she still maintained her kind and loving spirit as she dealt with this disease. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Alice’s honor can be made directly to Hospice of N. Ottawa or the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements by The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444.
