Barbara Ailien Tamulis, age 67, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, March 22 at 8:04 am at Muskegon’s Mercy Health Emergency Department accompanied by her loving brother Bruce, Gianine Casassa (Bruce’s partner in life) and Matt, her attending nurse. Her family is deeply saddened by her death and they rejoice in knowing that she is now at peace. Barbara spent most of her adult life in Muskegon. She graduated from Reeths - Puffer High School in 1974. Barbara was physically handicap and partially blind for the majority of her life. She was a resident of Hillcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation, on Mitzi Drive in North Muskegon, for the past eight years and choose to stay there, where they aided in her daily care. She was active in the facility’s social programs and lent a hand with bingo and the daily mail delivery. She loved to get out in her wheel chair on outdoor excursions in the community, frequently taking a trip to the mall or a MATS Bus to tour beautiful Pere Marquette beach. Barbara was a trusting and caring woman. Barbara is survived by her, sister Mari Ann Tamulis (Schaefer) and her husband Mike Schaefer of Belen, New Mexico, her brother Bruce and his partner Gianine Casassa, of Rapid City, her niece Chelsea R. Zielinski-Tamulis of Muskegon, cousins Steve Tamulis, of Walkerville, Walter and Carole Tamulis, of Naples Florida, and Chuck and Lynn Tamulis of St. Johns, Michigan and cousins David and Vicki McClees of Honor, Michigan and Susan McClees of Arvada Colorado. Barbara was preceded in death by her long-time partner Michael Poe Poe, her Mother Regina Viola Schreier (Tamulis), her Father Anthony (Tony) John Tamulis, her Aunt Virginia Schreier (Stowe), and her cousin Diane Tamulis (Groleau) of Hudsonville, Michigan. There will be no memorial service and a celebration of life is considered for the future. Contributions in memory of Barbara can be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. It was the Shriner’s that helped Barbara in the very early stages of her life with her crippling handicap brought on by a brain fever at a very early age.
