Caralee Nietering

June 6, 1939 - March 24, 2022

Mrs. Caralee Nietering, age 82, of Grand Haven passed away Thursday, March 24, 2022, at home. She was born June 6, 1939, in Muskegon to Merlin and Glenna (Stenger) Wright. On November 25, 1959, she married Robert L. Nietering. Caralee spent a lifetime in education retiring in 1994 after 35 years of caring for children. After retirement she spent 20 years on the Grand Haven Public School Board. She was a voracious reader, enjoyed Irish music and traveling. She was also a proud mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She will be missed. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert; four children: Kristine Nietering, Robert T. (Lynda) Nietering, Dennis (Sherri) Nietering, Timothy (LuAnne) Nietering; six grandchildren: Seth (Lindsey) Nietering, Kaila Nietering, Robert J. Nietering, Timothy Nietering, Reilly Nietering, and Stephen (Virginia) Nietering; three great-grandchildren: Clairice, Robert V., and Jacob. Sister, Harriet Voorheis; half siblings: Cathy, Cherri, Anita, and Wade Wright and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, Merlin Wright and Glenna Blundell; sisters, Joyce Robbins, Mary Alice Wright and half-sister, Patricia Becklin. Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at The VanZantwick Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 620 Washington Ave, Grand Haven, MI 49417. Visitation will be held 6-8 PM Monday, March 28, 2022, at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Lakeshore Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions in memory of Caralee may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of North Ottawa Community.
