He believed the meaning of life was to believe in something greater than yourself, and try to be the best husband, brother, sister, parent, or friend that you could be. Mix 1 cup oleo or butter with 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of brown sugar. Add 2 eggs – one at a time and a tsp. of vanilla. Add 2 cups of cornflakes, 1 cup coconut flakes and 2 cups oatmeal (uncooked). Sift together 2 cups of flour, ½ tsp. of Baking Soda, ½ teaspoon of baking powder, and ½ teaspoon of salt. Roll into small balls and flatten with the bottom of a cup or glass dipped in sugar. Bake for 12 -15 minutes at 350 to 375 degrees on a greased pan. He is survived by four children: Jim (Pat) Sedgewick of Grand Haven, Dr. Jeff (Roya) Sedgewick of Great Falls, VA, Sandra Davis of Denver, CO, and Elizabeth (Dan) Brownell of Hastings; nine grandchildren: Stephanie and Rachel Sedgewick, Justin, Brandon, and Elizabeth Sedgewick, Austin and Kathryn Davis, Emily and Luke Brownell; sister-in-law, Catherine (George) Weatherford; his brother Joseph (Patricia) Sedgewick; and many nieces and nephews.
