Constance A. Christiansen
May 20, 1929 - April 12, 2022
Constance (Connie) Arlene Christiansen left her temporal home on earth to her eternal home prepared by her Savior Jesus Christ on April 12,2022 Connie was born to Everett and Nellie Taylor on May 20, 1929. She became the big sister to Jean, Charles and James Taylor. When she graduated from Muskegon Heights High School, Connie was already growing in her skills as a bookkeeper. Throughout her lifetime she became the bookkeeper for her father’s business “The Muskegon Tile and Mosaic Co.”, and her husband’s business, “Vernon Christiansen Floorcovering” as well as Payroll accountant at Michigan Springs of Muskegon. Lastly those skills were used with SEND International of Taiwan. She made several 3-month trips to Taiwan filling in as bookkeeper and becoming a part of the SEND Taiwan family of missionaries, happily coming alongside and loving on the SEND children especially her grandsons who were living in Taiwan. Connie’s love for children was evident in her wonderful support of her three children, Linda (Jeff) Whitaker, Craig (Uyen) Christiansen and Don (Lisa) Christiansen in all the pursuits of their growing up years and in her love for her grandchildren. She provided many great fun times for her grandchildren from duck feeding to trips to cool kid loving destinations. Connie also loved house design. She designed a wonderful family home on Martin Road perfect for her family and hospitality. It even included a built-in shuffleboard in the rec. room. As a young teen one of her Sunday school teachers showed such love and enthusiasm about the Bible it inspired Connie to a lifetime of Bible study as well. From the Bible Connie learned of Jesus’s death on the cross for her sins and of His resurrection. She confessed her sins and placed her trust In Jesus Christ as her Savior. It was then that her focus and loves were directed toward her Lord Jesus, His Word and His church (particularly at Bethel Baptist of Muskegon). From playing the piano, to teaching Sunday School, to planning events, to decorating, to potlucks, to serving on committees she served with all her heart. She also organized ministry outreaches for the youth group encouraging them to serve in nursing homes and at the Muskegon Rescue Mission. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, April 14, 2022 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444. Interment will take place at Mona View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, consider donating to the Muskegon Rescue Mission. Sign the guestbook online at www.sytsemafh.com
