Doris Mae Shackles

September 20, 1933 - February 3, 2022

Mrs. Doris Mae Shackles, age 88, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022 in Muskegon, Michigan. She was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to Mahlon and Edith (Pape) Casterline. Doris was an avid gardener, wonderful cook and baker, talented seamstress, and enjoyed playing Bridge with her Bridge Club Friends. On August 29, 1953, Doris married Rev. Robert A. Shackles in Pennsylvania and they enjoyed 63 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2017. Doris is survived by two children, Cindy Powell and Thomas (Becki) Shackles; five grandchildren, Samantha Powell, Stephanie (Brandon) Boike, Mathieu (Kate) Powell, Evan (Devin) McGovern, and Jeremy (Michelle) McGovern; six great-grandchildren (and one on the way); and her very special friend, Sunny. In addition to her husband, Doris was preceded in death by her son, Stephen Shackles; son-in-law, Kenneth Powell; parents; and brother, Donald Casterline. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 with Rev. Dr. Jared C. Cramer officiating.
