Eugene Joseph Veselits

August 10, 1928 - February 21, 2022

Eugene Veselits passed away peacefully on Monday, February 21, 2022 at his home. Eugene was born on August 10, 1928 in Muskegon Heights to Elizabeth Pezenhoffer and Fred Veselits and was the second youngest of 14 children, Anne, Marie, Christine, Frank, Bettye, Lewis, Blanche, Andrew, Margaret, Louie, Frederick and Barbara (all deceased). He started working for the City of Muskegon Heights in 1943 and worked there for 40 years with much of that time being spent at Mona View Cemetery as a gardener. He took time to serve in the Army beginning in 1950, during the Korean war and was stationed in Germany reaching the rank of Corporal before his service ended in 1952. Eugene returned to Muskegon Heights and in 1967 married Maxine Veselits and they were together for 47 years until Maxine passed away in 2014. Eugene was passionate about golf, physical fitness and gardening. He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews along with two remaining stepchildren. Honoring Eugene’s wishes, there will be no public services. Arrangements handled by The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 1547 W Sherman Blvd, Muskegon, MI 49441.
