Jose M. Pacheco Lira Sr., age 60, met his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at home, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born on February 17, 1962 to Manuel and Guadalupe (Lira) Pacheco Rodriguez in Mexico City, Mexico. After graduating high school, Jose attended trade school where he earned his certification as a diesel mechanic. He was a dedicated employee of DINA Disel Nacional in Uruapan, Michoacán, Mexico, where he worked as a diesel mechanic for 10 years. On July 2, 1988, he married the love of his life, the former Rosa Avila. Together they cherished nearly 34 years of marriage filled with endless love and laughter. In 1995, together, Jose and Rosa made their way to Muskegon and have called it home ever since. Jose was a faithful servant of our Lord and was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Jose had a love for nature; in his earlier years he enjoyed climbing trees and bird watching. He enjoyed being on the water spending his time fishing or keeping his backyard in pristine condition. Jose loved keeping himself busy working on tasks that pertained to his mechanical skills. He was known for his passion of shopping and was a well-known “collector.” In his spare time, you could find him watching soccer or cheering on his Pittsburgh Steelers! He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and was well known in the community. Jose was everyone and anyone’s friend, his radiant smile was welcoming to all. He enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends. Jose was a generous man who was always willing to help others, no matter who they were. His fun-loving and caring personality will truly be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Rosa Pacheco Avila; 3 children, Jose (Susie) Pacheco Jr., Estefania Pacheco and Vanesa Pacheco; 2 granddaughters, Natalia and Catalina; 3 sisters, Carmen Pacheco, Teresa Pacheco and Maria Eugenia Pacheco; brother-in-law, Raul Avila; sister-in-law, Guadalupe Soberano; dog, Princess Pacheco; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel (Guadalupe) Pacheco Rodriguez. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, April 8, 2022 at St. Mary’s Church of the Immaculate Conception, 239 W. Clay Ave., Muskegon, MI 49440. A visitation with the family will be held from 4-8:00PM on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 with a rosary at 6:00PM. Memorial Contributions in Jose’s honor can be directed to St. Mary’s Church of the Immaculate Conception.
