Joseph C. Miller (Kornacki)
April 19, 1984 - April 4, 2022
Joseph Miller (Kornacki), resident of the city of Muskegon, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly and long before his time on April 4th, 2022 at the age of 37. He is survived by his wife and love of his life of 24 years, Laura Miller, parents John Kornacki and Debra Wolffis, brothers James and Mark Kornacki, in-laws Marcy Miller and Ed Miller and what he called his tribe of extended non-blood family. Joe (as he was known to his friends and family) was a uniquely beautiful person who, despite struggling with autism spectrum disorder (Asperger syndrome) became a community leader and served on the Nelson Neighborhood board. Joe was also an advocate for mental health, the Me Too movement, LGBTQ, social justice for all, sustainable and equitable change and so much more. He believed in sacrificing for the integrity of future generations. He was a beloved uncle, friend, mentor, son, brother and incredible husband. He loved life and took every opportunity to add simple joys, time in nature, tinkering on projects and gaining new knowledge every day. He believed there was no greater value to work than to help his community and neighbors and empowering those less fortunate than himself. Joe was incredibly intelligent, but kind in sharing every bit of knowledge and resources to anyone who needed it. A local craftsman and artist, Joe was fascinated with how things worked. He was a hard-working, resilient person in the face of adversity, who could always figure out how to solve a problem, no matter how big or small. He believed deeply in action being the only measure of a person’s true commitment and integrity. Many are asking what they can do. In the spirit of his fierce devotion to his wife and her life long commitment to his success and fulfillment in life, he would ask for support for her in her time of mourning so that she can continue her journey being just as impactful as they were together. They both struggled through many losses, but always found ways to make time for others in need. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the GoFundMe set up to financially support Laura, Joe's wife, who is now navigating life without her beloved husband and facing unexpected financial strain. It will be on May 28th, 2022. Please be sure to RSVP as there will be people coming from all over the country. He felt death was not to be an acknowledgment above a life’s deeds. So any and all who were touched by his selfless deeds are welcome to come, celebrate and share with us. Bring a game to play, a dish to pass including candy which he loved or if you can’t make it, take a walk in the woods and plant a tree for him.
