Mr. Kenneth Veurink

January 22, 1928 - October 27, 2016

Mr. Kenneth Veurink, 88, devoted family man and friend, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2016, in Muskegon. He was born January 22, 1928, to William and Aleda (TerHaar) Veurink in Muskegon, where he was a lifelong resident. Ken was a milkman for Farr View Dairy for 28 years, and retired from Muskegon Public Schools. Ken had a strong faith in God and was a member of Fruitport Christian Reformed Church and former member of E. Muskegon Christian Reformed Church where he served on the consistory. Ken loved helping others and will be remembered for his caring heart and quick wit. He was a US Army veteran in the Philippines, and after returning home, married the love of his life, Eleanor Haase, who preceded him in death February 8, 2013. Survivors include 3 children, James (Gordon Bieske) Veurink of E. Lansing, Judith (David) MacRae of DeWitt, Janice (Michael) Andersen of Phoenix, AZ; 3 grandchildren, Andi (Ryan) Barger, Bethany Allen and Heather Allen; 2 great-grandchildren, Eghan and Isla; 1 brother, Roger Veurink of Holland. The staff at Christian Care Nursing Center became Ken’s extended family the last years of his life, and the Veurinks are thankful for their loving care. The funeral service will be Monday at 11 am at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 789-1100. Visitation will be 5-7 pm on Sunday, and 1 hour before the service on Monday. Contributions in memory of Kenneth Veurink may be made to Western Michigan Christian HS or the Pavilion Building Fund at Christian Care Nursing Center.
