Mrs. Mari Brunner's Obituary
Mrs. Marie “Mari” Brunner, age 87, of Spring Lake passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Oak Crest Assisted Living. She was born March 20, 1925 in Dumont, New Jersey to Russell and Marie (Hermida) Goodwin.
On June 8, 1948 she married James Brunner in Albion, MI and they were married for over 64 years. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Michigan Center, MI and attended Edgewood Lutheran Church in Fruitport. Together they enjoyed wintering in Jekyll Island, Georgia. Mari and Jim had a passion for golf and spent many days on the links in Michigan, Georgia and Alabama. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed knitting, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Jim; 4 sons: Jim (Rosemary) Brunner of Jackson, John (Mary Jane) Brunner of Spring Lake, Bill (Karen) Brunner of Grand Rapids, and Ed (Mary Alice) Brunner of Saint Joseph; 11 grandchildren: Matt, Jake, and Seth Brunner, Scott (Elise), Brad (Karen), and Doug (Maranda) Brunner, Nathan, Mary, and Lily Brunner, Laura Brunner and Jim Brunner; 3 great-grandchildren: Mark, George, and Hazel Brunner. She is also survived by 1 sister, Evelyn Potter; and cousins: Schenck Remsen and Peggy Ann Hagget; niece Jill Potter and nephew Eugene Potter. She was preceded in death by special relatives, Evelyn Remsen, Eddie Ruckle, and Sally Hagget.
A memorial service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Edgewood Lutheran Church (2525 Pontaluna Rd.). Visitation will be held 6-8 PM Friday at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake. Interment will take place in Spring Lake Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Mari may be given to Spring Lake District Library, Christ Lutheran Church in Michigan Center, or Edgewood Lutheran Church in Fruitport.
