Marjorie "Marge" Witte

September 1, 1929 - February 26, 2022

Mrs. Marjorie E. “Marge” Witte, 92, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022, in Muskegon. She was born September 1, 1929, to Sander and Greeta (Dobben) Ensing in Fremont and moved to Muskegon in 1947. Marge was a member of Grace Christian Reformed Church and had been a member of the former East Muskegon Christian Reformed Church. She belonged to the Lydia Guild and served as the church treasurer. She had worked at Superior Oil for many years before retiring. Marge loved to cook, getting her family together for many homemade meals. She loved to read and was a skilled crafter enjoying basket making, painting and quilting, even making a memory quilt for each of her grandchildren. She traveled all over the United States including Alaska and trips to Canada and Europe with her beloved husband. She was a master seamstress, making wedding and bridesmaid dresses for many area weddings. She especially loved her family and was a thoughtful friend to many. On September 3, 1948, she married Morris G. Witte, and he preceded her in death on January 6, 2007. Survivors include three children: Paul (Sharon) Witte, Nancy (Greg) Wagenmaker, Douglas (Shelley) Witte; grandchildren: Travis (Alyssa) Witte, Trisha (Barb)Witte, Ryan Wagenmaker (Alyssa Adams), Jacob Wagenmaker (Samantha Woirol), Lee (Crystal) Witte, Noah (Leslie) Witte, Lucas (Hannah) Witte,; 4 great-grandchildren; one brother: Keith (Marva) Ensing; two sisters: Arlene Salacina and Shirley Tubbergen; brother-in-law: Howard (Eleanor) Witte; sister-in-law: Dorothy (Ed) Brown; former daughter-in-law: Mary (Steve) Smith; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a brother: Irvin Ensing; a sister: Joyce Houseman. A service to remember and celebrate Marge’s life will be held Friday, March 25, at 1:00 PM at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Witte may be made to Muskegon Christian School or Western Michigan Christian High School/Middle School.
