Myrna J. Root, age 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at her home with her family by her side. Myrna was preceded in death by her husband Duane and daughter Kristy and survived by her three children, Kelly Root, Stephen (Susan) Root, Timothy (Eva) Root; son-in-law, Anthony Roman; three grandchildren, Connor Roman, Sarah Roman, and Elodie Root; brother, Chuck Carey; sister, Maureen (Irving) Ebmeier; many nieces and nephews, and special caretaker, Melissa DeWitt. Myrna was born November 23, 1937 in Mitchell, SD, married her high school sweetheart Duane on June 1, 1957 in Salem, SD and cherished 61 years of marriage. Myrna and Duane moved their family to Muskegon in 1969. Myrna was devoted to her family and to creating special times at holidays, on camping trips, and around the dinner table. Nothing was more important than her family and as a loving grandparent she was so proud of her three grandchildren. Myrna was a longtime member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where she was very active including participation in the Women’s Guild. Myrna’s faith sustained her throughout her life. Myrna worked over 30 years as the office manager for Langlois Stores before her retirement. Her Langlois work family was very important to her and she maintained close friendships until her passing. Due to the current surge in Covid cases, services for Myrna will take place in Spring or Summer of 2022.
