We were very sorry to hear of Pat's passing. She was a lovely and talented lady. We had much fun working together at Sohio and socializing after hours with "the gang". We'll keep you and your family in our prayers.##imported-begin##Bill & Carol Paxton##imported-end##

Many former Sohioans have responded with regrets and condolences to my email about the loss of Pat. They include (as of today) Jenny Grasselli, Lorry Szabo, Carol Paxton, June Duke, Jan Greene, Judy Stuchul and Ray Shank. Their fond memories include both social and professional interactions. Perhaps you will see messages posted from more "ex-oilers."
One of MY fondest memories of Travels With Pat involved trying to get fed in Stratford, Ontario, a charming little town with a famous Festival and restaurants that had no concept of "curtain time" at the town's main industry. The Chinese restaurant had anything you could want, as long as it was chicken I ordered a salad and was served a side salad with it. The little diner-style restaruant that we hit for breakfast was so disorganized that it took 15 minutes to get a glass of orange juice or cup of coffee (OJ & coffeeat one end of the diner, glasses and cups at the other end). The "tea room" catered to sparrow-sized spinsters of a certain age (85+). We waited two hours at the "Big Inn" for breakfast, and decided they had gone out to milk the cow and catch the salmon for Pat's order, and harvest the wheat and cinnamon for my toast. The final fun-filled activity was walking up to the Treasure Burger drive-in and being refused service because we weren't in a car! It's a wonder that we ever made it to a play on time!
The other elegant dining experience occurred at Beausoliel Island, where Pat, John and I ran out of dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and food on our last day camping. We washed the lot (it took all day) and dined on potato stick sandwiches! Mmmm, good!
Great though goofy memories--thank you, Pat and John!##imported-begin##Madeline C. (MitCH) Helms##imported-end##
Hello MacTavishes;
I and mine (forgive the grammar) want to extend every condolence to the family. Pat was a fantastic lady, a wonderful, generous human being, a great cook & hostess, and (after knowing her children) a mother most kids do without. I was lucky to have known her as little as I did. If there is anything that needs to be done and is in my power, you know to ask.
By the way, I still have the ergonomic chair she lent me about four years ago.....if no one minds, I'm keeping it. I really do think of her everytime I look at it.

Dear John, Penny, Becky, Sara, Tim, Felisha, Alexis, Nia and Nickolas,
Our thoughts are with all of you. We are glad we had the opportunity to see all of you last October. Thank you so much, Sara, Becky and John for all your thoughtfulness. That was a wonderful party and full of love.
Pat has meant a lot to both of us for a long time and always will.
Sending big hugs,

My years at Sohio Research were mostly in the Analytical Dept., where I shared many a happy moment with the other 'free spirits'. We tormented each other with bad puns, happily contributing money to the Pun Fund. Pat's humor was, um, droll. I loved her puns! She will be sadly missed.

Knew Pat when she worked at Standard Oil. She was a vivacious, quick-witted gal. Enjoyed her (and John's) hospitality at her home. Remember a specially fun spahetti party at their apartment for the "lab" people. Only knew her for a couple of years, but she made a lasting impression! Sorry to hear of her passing. C.E. My sincere condolences to you, John, and to Sara and Becky, and the grandkids. Pat was one of my very best friends for more than 40 years. Camping, boating, going to the Stratford Festival, co-conspiring on larks at the lab! I will cherish her memory and marvel at her accompishments for years to come. But I wish she had put aside her "hobby" of "working" a few years ago to enjoy a more leisurely life--and COMMUNICATE! (I treasure all of her Christmas cards, which often came in April, May, whatever!) Pat was a "keeper"!##imported-begin##Madeline C. (MitCH) Helms##imported-end##
