Robert Kenneth “Bobby” Wansten, age 71, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022. He was born on October 29, 1950 to Kenneth Wansten and Marilyn (Haan) Nelson in Muskegon. Bobby proudly served during the Vietnam War while in the United States Air Force. He worked as a postal carrier in the Grand Rapids area for many years prior to his retirement. Bobby enjoyed spending time at the beach, cars, and was always a sharp dresser. He was a cowboy at heart and loved wearing his cowboy hat and cowboy shoes. Bobby was also a war history buff and could talk your ear off once he got started. Bobby is survived by his sons, Jordan Wansten and Morgan Wansten both of Muskegon; siblings, Cheryl (Steve) Gardner of PA, Ken (Cheryl) Wansten and Theresa (Chuck) Babcock both of Muskegon; niece and nephew, Kyle and Kasey; several more nieces and nephews; and special cousins, Marcia Cooper and Mark Maynard. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth (Nancy) Wansten and mother, Marilyn (Forrest) Nelson. Visitation with the family will be Saturday, March 12 from 2:00-3:00PM at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442. A private family service will be held.
