Shirley "Dawn" Goodman

July 22, 1928 - August 29, 2021

Shirley “Dawn” Goodman, age 93, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2021 at her home. She was born July 22, 1928 in Muskegon to Edward and Carolynn (Senecal) Rewalt and was a lifelong resident of the area. She married Victor J. Goodman in 1951 and he preceded her in death in 2006. Dawn worked as a teller for First of America Bank and retired after 25 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and volunteered on the Collection Counting Team. She was also a charter member of Tatra Hall where she had served as Vice President and was very active for many years. Dawn loved her family, enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards and gambling. Survivors include 2 daughters, Pamela (Mike) Sohasky of Antigo, WI, Cynthia (Tim) Buday of Muskegon; 7 grandchildren, Stephanie (Chris) Bartletti, Sara (Tom) Gregorich, Michael Sohasky, Amy (Tom) Lopez, Crystal (Marc) Kieley, Katie (Mike) Burghuis, Jennifer (Thor) Andreson; 11 great-grandchildren, Brian, Ben and Joe Bartletti, Erika and Rachel Gregorich, Gabriella and Easton Lopez, Brooklyn, Kirsten and Aria Kieley, Lilianna, Adalyn and Daxson Burghuis; special niece, Susan Hornik; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Goodman, her parents, 3 brothers, Arthur and Daniel Rewalt, Eugene (Kate) Rewalt, and her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 E. Summit Ave., Muskegon Heights, MI 49444, with Father Lou Anderson presiding. Visitation will be held 6-8:30 PM Wednesday at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM Wednesday evening. Visitation will also be held 10-11AM Thursday in the Victor Miller Room at Sacred Heart Church. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be directed to Sacred Heart Catholic Church Memorial Fund or the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence. Sign the online obituary at www.sytsemafh.com
