We would like to offer our heartfelt sympathy to all of Eugene's family. Eugene was a good friend who would do anything for you. He will be missed by many people. It is so hard to believe he is gone, but not forgotton.

we were so sorry to hear about eugene. our sympathy goes out to your whole family. we own the hardware store (ace) downtown lanse. we enjoyed seeing your father whenever he came in. he always had a smile for us and was such a kind man. we kidded around about what a good apple pie he could make and last summer he came in one day with this beautiful apple pie. he was right it was the best apple pie we had ever had and we confessed up to him and we all had a good time about it.we certainly miss him. god bless to your family##imported-begin##larry and virgie menard##imported-end##
Please accept my heartfelt sympathy for your loss. Eugene will undoubtably be sorely missed by his family and also know that we, his extended family, will also miss his warm, kind and generous character.
I first met Eugene through Erv and Shirley and he was friendly, kind, with a respectable character and one that would leave a positive and everlasting imprint on one's heart.
My last visit with Eugene was at the clubhouse. I admired the cabinets that he had built and he invited me to his truck to see the bedside stand that he had made for his daughter.
Indeed he led a good and honest life sharing "love" with all that past his way. Truly, what greater gift could one man give?

We all loved the old fart. What can I say. He was my favorite. He always had a smile and a joke and a tall tale to tell. Michigan just won't bethe same without him. I was heartened to hear that he was out on the trail with his friends. He and the boys always said that was how they wanted to go. I'll miss him dearly. But I smile every time I think about him. When a loss of a friend ike this happens I always wish I had had more contact wih the person, In Eugenes case I will have to rely on those memories of summer days on the grandparents farm and at the Otts home with jumping off the Stearns Bayou bridge on dares from the Ott boys. I only knew Eugene for about five years, but it was a good five years.I to do woodworking, we would talk about doing stuff different ways and help each other out. On Saturday February 23, 2008 I lost my snowmobiling, four wheeling & fishing buddy. Eugene was my very dear friend.
Baraga County lost a very unique citizen as Eugene went to great lengths to give back to his adoptive home. He served as Treasurer of the Baraga County Sno-Drifters Sled & ATV club and was instrumental in building, and maintaining, our club house. He also served as Vice President of the Baraga County Tourist & Recreation Association.
Eugene had many talents. One weakness, however, was the ability to say "no" when asked for help. On the other hand he rarely asked for help and if he had there would have been a long line of friends to do so. He was also was someone great to argue with especially since every argument ended with a hearty laugh.
Eugene was very proud of the growth of our club. Part of his legacy will be the continued growth as his passing has seemed to bring us closer together as we have discovered that "we are family".
Finally, for the benefit of his family and many friends, I'd like to assure you that Eugene would be pleased with his last day with us. It was a bright sunny winters day on a snowmobile trip to Big Bay with his club member friends. Eugene built a bon fire along the way for us all to enjoy. He was feeling good & in great spirits.
