Junes Marion Blok's Obituary
Junes Marion Blok, age 90, of Grand Haven passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2013. She was born June 8, 1923 in Glover, North Dakota to John and Mathilde (Berget) Solberg. Junes married Jim Blok on April 29, 1950 in Bismarck, North Dakota and he preceded her in death on March 28, 1996.
Junes moved to Grand Haven in 1956 and worked for the Grand Haven Tribune. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Junes enjoyed volunteering for many activities in the community, playing cards and she especially loved her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Joni (James) Maile of White Cloud; sons, James (Joyce) Blok of Charles Town, West Virginia and John Blok of Wyoming; ten grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Junes is also survived by her brother, Alfred (Lucile) Solberg of North Dakota. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; and siblings, Margret, Ingrid, Roy, Melvin and Earl Solberg.
The Funeral Service for Junes will be 1:00 PM Monday, October 28, 2013 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Grand Haven with Rev. Michael Goers officiating. Visitation will be held 3:00 – 6:00 PM Sunday, October 27 at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven. Interment will take place in Lake Forest Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Junes may be given to Hospice of North Ottawa Community or St. John’s Lutheran Church.
