Renee is my cousin, friend and traveling companion, but best of all, she is my sister in Christ. Knowing her these past 44 years was awesome, but it was the last year that our friendship developed and we became more like sisters than cousins. My privilege was to accompany her through her cancer experience and to share just a little in the extremes that the illness brings with it. Every day was precious to Renee, even before her illness. She was a remarkable athlete. Her love for children is a benchmark for all of us. Jaden was the love of her life, and she was especially concerned that he understand that Jesus loves him.
My sadness in her going is overcome only by joy in knowing she is in heaven, and I'll see her again. We often spoke of "what's next" on her journey, and hearing of heaven was her chief curiosity. She never tired of her Bible reading, the books on heaven and spiritual growth, or having her family visit.
My life is richer for our friendship, and the example of the Moser family. She now belongs to an even larger family, and as my Dad asked me the day after Renee's homegoing, "I wonder what the first day in heaven will be like for Renee?" That thought has comforted me in losing her, and knowing I'll see her again.
Jim and I have her picture on the refrigerator (hugging him in his wheelchair). Her smile is just a small picture of the enthusiasm she showed for life and for her loves.
One of her verses is our life verse: Romans 12:12, Be joyful in hope; patient in trials; and faithful in prayer. Renee did all of these.##imported-begin##Jim and Barbara Yates##imported-end##
