Richard "Dick" J. O'Brien's Obituary
Richard “Dick” Joseph O’Brien, age 84, of Spring Lake passed away Thursday, July 21, 2011, at Heartwood Lodge Hospice House. He was born November 29, 1926 in Palmyra, New York to William and Kathryn (Hickey) O’Brien, and married Barbara Ruiter on May 3, 1958 in Spring Lake.
Dick was a veteran of the US Army and served during WWII. He was employed as a sales representative for Garlock, Inc., until retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, and enjoyed being with his family.
Dick is lovingly remembered by his wife, Barbara; his son, William (Dianne) O’Brien of Saginaw, MI; a daughter, Monica (Richard) Eerdmans of Jenison, MI; 5 grandchildren: Kelly, Katie, Colin O’Brien; and Shannon, and Andre Eerdmans, also many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Megan Rae O’Brien, 3 sisters: Rita, Helen, and Anne, and a brother Robert.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2011, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Chapel in Grand Haven with Deacon Joseph Finnigan officiating. Please join the family for a luncheon and fellowship following the service in the Family Center. Interment will be at Spring Lake Township Cemetery.
