Though Stefanie and i only knew eachother for a short period of time, she warmly let me into her life. She was so kind to me when Nick and I visited her in the hospital together. When i entered the hospital room I could feel the atmosphere. Though there were chords and tubes everywhere, it was peaceful. Stefanie made me feel completely comfortable. Shortly after I met Stefanie I began my deployment to Iraq. When I heard her condition was worsening I told some of my friends. The fellow soldiers I shared her story with were deeply touched. When the news came that Stef went home to Heaven, I was heart-broken and felt powerless. From so far away there was nothing I could do to help Nick when he needed me most. I was humbled by how much he loved her. On behalf of myself and all of the soldiers who were touched by Stefanie's story, we are truly sorry for your loss.
