All the fun shopping trips. Also the fires in the back yard and the laughs.
The year we decide to do Mis-something. Joy was misinformed ! We had so much fun!
When we were teaching fourth grade at the far end past the office, Joy would yell, “Kaaaaaathy,” which translated to, “I have a tech problem, help.”
Of course, I’d come across the hall and 2 doors down to see her sitting and the computer. I’d come over, fix it, then explain what to do next time. But it wouldn’t be but a day or two when I’d hear, “Kaaaaaathy!”
I’d laugh because she never used the phone on our walls and called my extension. Always called across the hall. She was not tech savvy but that was okay. I didn’t mind and always chuckled at her shouting.
When she retired, I missed her shouting across the hall. Missed her laughter. Missed her antics at camp that I was always up for (“Be the lookout for Amy. I’m having a smoke”, and of course I did.) Missed her and Carla always up to something and always making us laugh. She was also so tender when I needed it like when my dad passed.
I do have so many memories I couldn’t even list them all. She was a beautiful soul and a good friend and colleague. Teaching wouldn’t have been the same without her. We need more Joy’s in teaching. We need to remember that life is fun even at work.
Miss you friend. Keep them laughing in Heaven and see your sister you so dearly loved.

I loved Mrs Johnson! I was a student at Beach. She inspired me to become a teacher. I then became a peer of hers at Edgewood in 1990. She loved teaching and was so supportive of students. She was the best.
Brian, Brooke and all who loved Mrs Johnson-my deepest sympathies on the loss of such a wonderful lady.
There are so many wonderful memories I have of Joy. The ones that come to mind the most are from Fourth Grade Camp. It was always an adventure with Joy. There was a huge eagle's nest on the other side of the lake so we canoed over to see it. There were horses a short walk away, so we went and checked those out. We found a luge run so we climbed up to the top of it to get a photo op. We had a new assistant principal that went to camp with us. Years after this camping trip, the assistant principal mentioned how she was in our cabin and noticed a bottle with clear liquid in it in Joy's suitcase. She recollected how she kicked Joy's bag until the bottle fell out. She was sure it was vodka or gin, but nope, it was baby oil. We all had a good laugh over that. Joy will forever be missed. Rest in Peace Joy, until we meet again. ❤️❤️❤️
