My dad…
What do I say?
Maybe a poem…for those who know em’
Rhyming with some timing about a tough guy, a gruff guy.
But not with me, his little girl. His toughness was not felt. He loved me very much, I made his heart melt.
Childhood memories are so dear to me, sitting with him in his chair. Watching Wild Kingdom, we were quite the pair.
The weekends at the cottage, it was the place to be.
Family and friends, my mom, dad brothers and me.
As I grew older, we kinda lost touch.
Not as much time together, but he loved me just as much.
Together for the holidays and calls throughout the year.
I went from being called “little shit” to being called DEAR.
As a child I needed him, as an adult he needed me. Things sure did change, more “I love yous” to be.
Recently spent more time together, driving, talking, eating. A turkey, my mom, dad & me, our very last meeting.
And so…………….to the tough guy & gruff guy, I hate to have to say it. But its time to say GOODBYE!##imported-begin##Tamara Hawkins-Sundquist##imported-end##
