Mrs. Doris L. Stearns, age 93, passed away Monday, August 31, 2020. She was born on May 28, 1927 in Fremont, MI to Menno and Esther (Norman) Buck. In 1946, Doris married Paul Stearns and they enjoyed 66 years of marriage together. Read Obituary
We are sending our deepest sympathy to the Sterns family for the loss of Doris. What a positive and special part she played in the lives of the Carmean family! We can’t help but think that her reunion with Paul, Grace and Forrie was joy beyond measure. Please know that you are all in our hearts and prayers. My heart breaks for the family. Doris was such a sweet lady. When my Paul passed away she was there to give me a shoulder to cry. She was the smile at Grace Church that everyone loved. When she would come into Joann Fabric to get feathers for her pet she would stop to say hi if I was working. I will miss her so much. Thought about her the other day. Since I don't go to Grace Church I didn't hear anything about her. Now shes in heaven with Mom and Dad Kleyn my Paul and Jim and Barb Start and her sweet hubby Paul. The family will be in my prayers 🙏 for peace . She did so much good in muskegon and Mississippi.
I have missed seeing Doris’s’ smiling face this last year. She has a place of loving memory in my heart. I pray for you and your family during this time of lost. Blessings, Darlene Smith
My first trip to Mississippi Christian Family Services with my dad, Jim Start, was to work on a house that your dad, Paul, was project managing. My dad said ... “I am not the boss on this project daughter ... Paul is the boss ...you do what he says”. Your dad worked and tested me ... serious direction and swift corrections to put me back on track for the task at hand.
That night I met Doris ... when all of the volunteers ate dinner together in one of the volunteers camper trailer. Doris pulled me aside and said ... “I heard you done good today Deb! That’s something coming from my husband ... he said you got your dad in you. You know Paul loves your dad ... just won’t tell him”.
From that moment on Doris and I hit it off. Many more trips to MCFS with my parents, Barb and Jim Start, showed me the love and respect your parents held in MY parents heart. I learned to love and respect your parents too!
Doris is one of the strongest women I know and her love for Christ was evident in her words, actions and hugs. Her smile and laugh ... CONTAGIOUS !!! My mom, Barb, spoke often of Doris and dearly admired her.
Just know ... I and my parents loved Doris and Paul.
May God grant your family peace as you go through finding your new normal and happiness is knowing we will see them again.
