James was a great person. He was a great coach and cared deeply for kids. He talked my son back into playing baseball which we will never forget. He will be missed greatly.

So sorry to hear of your lose. Keeping you in my prayers

I had the privilege of knowing and working with James at Grand Haven steel products.
He was fun and easy going guy. He took great pride in his work, and with the people he personally trained. Which includes myself. To the Benson family and everyone dealing with this tragic loss my deepest sympathy, condolences and prayers go out to you. May God bless everyone..
This was a hard one to take. James was a friend that I met through our kids. He was a great person. Always friendly. RIP James. Continued prayers for his family. Until we meet again, fly high my friend.
It’s so hard to come to the realization of James leaving us, I will always love who James was as a friend, when my wife Susan and I first moved to MI we knew no one !
Coming from California, James knew we (my wife and I) were definitely on the outs, but James with his awesome personality, confronts me at the shop we worked at together to invite my wife and I to play cards at his home. I / we were so happy to finally have people Susan and I could consider friends. We never missed a poker night. I never knew there were so many versions of poker that existed until James kicked the ever loving sh’t out of me every time we played cards, I played cards with him as he drank Capn n Coke ? I call bs! LOL .. this guy introduced me to so many ways to lose that I realized .. I will not attempt euchre..! I don’t even know if I spelled that correctly! Anyway, my memories of James will never be diminished, we are all children of God. As James leaves us, take comfort knowing, James will be awoken from his sleep and it will be from the hand of God helping him to stand and telling James, don’t worry about anything, you are Home. Praise God our Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen .
God bless you James and ease the pain of your family and friends as we come to terms with this tragic loss of you being with us.
God bless you buddy, thank you for being ours while you were here.
Heart broken..
God, please help us all that are hurting.
Amen...
Wendy, Working with James was wonderful. I remember he was a wanderer while working. He was just that kind of guy. He had to chit chat.I use to buy candy for his three boys because of my friendship with him. He loved his boys so much and he was so proud of them. He will live on in my heart and in all of us that knew him and loved him forever. Love and Hugs to all of you!!

I provided child care for all three boys years ago. I sometimes burned an apple pie scented candle in my kitchen. When James came in to pick up the boys he'd say, mmmm, did you bake a pie or is it that darn candle?!!! One of the good guys. He sure did love his boys.
Amazing coach to my son and a great person. Thank you for teaching my son about baseball and taking him under your wing when the ball always wasn’t so nice to him. RIP
My thoughts and prayers with the Benson Family. I have great memories of James as a student in class and a great member if the Oakridge Football Family. James will always be remembered.
James was a good friend . Many Saturdays spent at the football field coaching his sons. Later we all got together at someone’s house and enjoyed an evening of throwing horse shoes and talking about the days games. Thoughts and prayer go out to the family.
