I met Karen in the fall of 1977 when I moved into the apartment building she was already living at, in Warren, MI. We hit it off right away and she became my best friend at that time in my life. We had a lot of fun times together doing simple things like laundry, grocery shopping, and talking and laughing over our morning coffee. And we laughed a LOT together. Eventually we even worked at the same place. And in later years, she was pregnant with her first born when I was pregnant with my 3rd. Some of my favorite memories involved grocery shopping together in the little TR7 that I drove. We managed somehow to fit 20 bags of groceries in the trunk of that little two-seater sports car. And the most fun was pulling up next to guys at the stop lights trying to impress us with their Trans Ams and Mustangs etc. I would rev the engine, they would laugh and then nod, and when the light turned green we would take off. As long as I could beat them to second gear we left them in the dust so to speak. Karen would be in the passenger seat laughing and yelling "go go go" and then stick her arm out the window waving at them behind us. A couple of times she even crawled halfway out the window so that she could look at them while waving. Throughout the years, we would both crack up about those times. Life took us in different directions, and as often happens we drifted apart, but I have always held the memories of our years together close to my heart, and smile when I think of them. Miss you my friend
