Karen Lynn Shippell's Obituary
Karen Lynn Shippell (Miesel) of Muskegon, MI passed away unexpectedly in her home on May 24, 2024. She was born in Highland Park, MI to George and Donna Miesel on June 6, 1959. She was a proud daddy’s girl and loved telling stories of her childhood. Karen enjoyed going to the farmers market, working in her garden, sewing, and watching sports. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and always had enough to feed an army. Her favorite and most important thing to do was to spend time with her grandson and great-granddaughter. Karen was an avid collector of dolphins, which is fitting because like a dolphin, she cared deeply for those she loved and hated being alone. She will be remembered for her kind, generous heart, her ability to believe in and unselfishly take care of everyone and for her fiery spirit and fierce love for her family. Karen is survived by her father, George Miesel; brother, Kevin Miesel (Karen); sons, Nathan Long (Melissa), Troy Long (Carolann); grandchildren, Mara Long and Ajani Long; and great-granddaughter, Nirvana Long-Ross. Karen is preceded in death by her mother, Donna Miesel; husband, Perry Shippell; son, Aaron Long; grandchild, Baby Long; great-grandchild, Baby Girl Long, and her beloved dogs. Karen will be missed tremendously by all who knew her. Her light continues to shine on through her sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.
