I met Larry about two years ago, he is one of my best friends grandpa. It sounds like a distant relation, but it seems as if those two years were my whole life. Between late night talks and midday visits on the front porch in the summer, I really got to know Larry well, after the first few visits I called him grandpa, because he really did become my grandpa. In the duration of these talks, I didn't only have the blessing of getting to know him, I began to find out more about myself and I found out more about what's truly important in life. It didn't take his death for me to realize this. Just the simple act of this man listening would bring a sudden smile to his face and he had the reflection of honor and genuiinity in his eyes. Not a second went by unwasted listening to what he had to say and every tear shed and every laugh will forever be apart of me. I have a long life ahead of me, but wherever I go and whoever I become I want grandpa to know he helped me get there. Larry had a way of teaching others how to love, I didn't only begin to see it in myself, but I see it in everyone he was surrounded with. His entire family has my heart, they have always been there for me and I will always be there for them. In two years such a man can make a life changing impact on a young kid. I was one of many. A grain of sand in his hourglass. I am blessed. Rest in peace, I promise you I will stay strong to what you have taught me.##imported-begin##Travis Pellegrom##imported-end##
Dear Carole
While it has been said before, it is so true, Larry was one of a kind. My best memories are just sitting on the deck at Robyn and Darins with you and Larry. Telling jokes and stories and laughing til my face hurt. Larry's humor, warmth and love of family was truly a gift to all who knew him. I cherish the memories and the way you both welcomed Josh and I into your hearts and lives. We are truly blessed for being part of your family.

I ran into Larry a couple of yrs. ago at Carpet Bonanza. It'd been so many yrs. since I'd seen him. His sweet, loving nature always made you feel so welcome around him. Instant memories of his being in our wedding; Doug playing guitar while he lead worship; living next door & buying his house from him. Good times. It's been a long time but we'll see you soon brother.##imported-begin##Doug & Rachel TerBeek##imported-end##
Larry was always a blessing to my life. He used to be our song worship leader at Deeper Life Church in Allendale in the late 1970's. He was a natural leader and did an excellent job.##imported-begin##Pastor John Woods, John Woods Jr. and family##imported-end##
Larry was one the best people I have ever met, there are two men I wish I could be as great as one is my late father Howard and the other is Larry, they bothered wonderful men and knew how to treat all people right. Larry will be dearly missed. Larry we love you. Mike n Becky Mattson.##imported-begin##Mike and Becky mattson##imported-end##
Dear Deb and Lori,
We wish to express our sympathy to you in the passing of your dad. He always had a warm smile for us, and we're sure you have many pleasant memories as well. May you feel God's comfort and peace especially at this time.

To Carole and all the children and grandchildren who loved Larry so: He was such a special person and we all are so privileged to have known him and have him be a part of our lives. Thoughts of him have always brought a smile, and everyone has stories of his humor. As I write this, your hearts are aching as though the sun will never shine again. I suspect Larry would have a word of wisdom about that, and probably a humorous quip, as he loved to make us all laugh. As you grieve his death, remember these words from Helen Keller: "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose; All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Although he is gone from your sight, Larry (dad, grandpa) will always be a part of you. As you go though life, you will always remember things he said, his smile, his hugs, his face, his voice, his laughter, and you will know he is there inside you. My heart sorrows with you as you find your way.##imported-begin##Marcia##imported-end##
I will always remember Larry coming in the door where I work. His hat sitting at a rakish angle, his little boy smile, a twinkle in his eye. He would throw his arms out and say "Somebody must have ordered a load of awesome, because here I am!"
Our world is less awesome today, because when he told that to St Peter at the pearly gates, St Peter told him "yes Larry, we did. Please come in."
All my love and support to you and your family, Carole##imported-begin##crystal cooper##imported-end##
