Larry Wayne Schuitman's Obituary
Larry Wayne Schuitman, age 63, of Grand Haven left this earth after a brief battle with brain cancer on January 14, 2012, to join his parents and his sons, David John and Timothy Wayne, in the presence of our Lord God. He was born October 9, 1948, to Cornelius Major and Agnes (Kruis) Schuitman in Grand Rapids.
Larry dedicated his life to his family and his friends, always thinking of others first. Larry loved books and music, but more than anything else, he loved his family.
He was patient with everyone, and always looked for the good in people. His sense of humor – according to him – was “finely evolved,” and anyone who knew him knew this was a very special part of him. Larry was a man of integrity, gentleness, of honesty and caring. He had a wonderful way of making people feel comfortable.
Larry’s life made this earth a better place while he was here, and he will be missed beyond words by his wife, Carole; his daughters, Deb (Daniel Martin) Robinson of Holland, MI, Lori (David) Griep of Hudsonville; stepchildren: Eric (Michaela) Ensing of Houston, TX, Cara Ensing of Spring Lake, Darin (Robyn) Ensing of Grand Haven; grandchildren: Jordan, Jalen, Cameron, and Clayton Griep, Joseph and Taylor Robinson, Josie, Luke, and Gracie Schuitman of Yale, MI, Chloe Ensing, Isaac and Isabella Cortines, and Dylan and Alex Bates of Texas. He is also survived by sisters, Dot (Bob) Holleman of Holland, Linda (Mike) Cook of Hudsonville; and many, many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Services for Larry will be held 11:00 AM Friday, January 20, 2012, at Covenant Life Church in Grand Haven with Pastor Mark Davis officiating. Friends may meet the family 5:00-9:00 PM Thursday, January 19, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven, and one hour prior to the service at church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Schuitman Family Education Fund at Michigan Commerce Bank are appreciated.
