Mrs. Lois R. McKendry, age 81, passed away early Saturday, December 15, 2007. She was born in Grand Rapids, December 21, 1925 to Wynand A. and Elsie (Stricker) Brandel. She married John H. McKendry in East Grand Rapids on June 17, Read Obituary
I just saw the notice in the Grand Rapids Press after being out of town last week.

I have wonderful memories of the women's bowling banquets I attended as interpreter. Lois was a gracious, loving Deaf woman. We will miss her very much. Dear John, Linda, Heather, Doug, Sean, Melonie, Shannon and family, we are so sorry for your loss. It seemed appropriate to light the "rose" candle of Advent with the notificaton of her death. She was vibrant in life, her welcoming hugs and expressions. You could feel her love of life and for those around her. She was the "rose" in life and surely she will be in heaven. To the family of Lois. I have known Lois for several years through DHHC. I have come to love her dearly and will miss her with the same grace she showed me when there to visit her. She was a big part of my life and I will remember her always. I remember Lois well from the early 1980s when my deaf daughter attended Marquette School. She was a regular at school functions and potluck dinners. I don't think I ever saw her without a smile! What a dear, sweet lady. I will remember her fondly!
