Lois Ruth McKendry's Obituary
Mrs. Lois R. McKendry, age 81, passed away early Saturday, December 15, 2007. She was born in Grand Rapids, December 21, 1925 to Wynand A. and Elsie (Stricker) Brandel. She married John H. McKendry in East Grand Rapids on June 17, 1949. Mrs. McKendry was employed at the former Muskegon Childrens’ Home for many years until her retirement in 1991. She was a member of the Deaf Hard of Hearing Connection and the Michigan Association of the Deaf. She was an avid bowler, bowling until the age of 77. SURVIVORS include: her husband John H. McKendry, Sr.; 4 children, John H. (Linda) McKendry, Jr. of Norton Shores, Elizabeth A. Laskowski of Lackport, IL, Patricia S. (Fred) Garcia of Columbia, MO and William R. (Laureen) McKendry of Rockford, MI; 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister, Wynand, Bernard and Barbara Brandel. The FUNERAL SERVICE will be held Friday, December 21, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100. Visitation will be Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. She will be laid to rest in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. MEMORIALS: Deaf Hard of Hearing Connection.`
