Alan Leamy Grieve's Obituary
Mr. Alan Leamy Grieve, age 80, passed away Wednesday evening, October 28, 2009. He was born on April 24, 1929 in Flint, Michigan to Pierson and Margaret (Leamy) Grieve. After graduating from Jackson High School, Alan enlisted in the Army to serve in Germany. He was involved in the postwar reconstruction and assisted in the Berlin Airlift to West Germany during the Russian Blockade of the city. He continued to serve his country in the Korean War. After the war, he returned to Jackson and married the former Janet Crowther. They were married 52 years before Janet passed away May 24, 2005. Alan worked at Miller Tool and Die in Jackson for 35 years until his retirement. After retirement, Alan and Janet enjoyed traveling between homes in Northport, Florida and Birch Lake, Michigan. Alan will be remembered for his quick humor, his love of hunting and fishing and the outdoors.
Mr. Grieve is survived by one daughter, Karen (Dr. Hikmet) Sipahi of Spring Lake; two sons, Michael (Sheryl Sabo) Grieve of Jackson, MI, and Dr. Douglas (MaryAnne) Grieve of Dallas Center, Iowa; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and his brother, Pierson (Flo) Grieve of Minneapolis, MN. Alan was preceded in death by his parents.
