Mrs. Alberdena M. "Alby" Hooker's Obituary
Mrs. Alberdena M. “Alby” Hooker, age 87, went home to her Lord and Savior on Thursday evening, October 3, 2013. Alby was born July 9, 1926 in Muskegon. She was married to M.R. Hooker, who preceded her in death in 1987. She was a former member of Bethany Christian Reformed Church, where she was involved in Telecare and the Ladies Aid. She is a current member of Unity Reformed Church and is a member of Cross-Group. Alby was a volunteer for Hackley Hospital for 30 years, and also volunteered many hours at Western Michigan Christian School. She was an election worker in Muskegon for 35 years. She enjoyed knitting and spending time with her many friends. Alby’s life and love centered around her faith and family. She also spent a lot of time with her grandchildren. Alby is survived by 3 children, Donald (Patricia) Hooker, Barbara (David) DeBoer, Larry (Nancy) Hooker all of Muskegon; 7 grandchildren, Mark (Polly) Hooker, Jamie Hooker, John (Kristina) Hooker, Kerri (Doug) Newton, Derek (Marsha) DeBoer, Jill (Andy) Maciejewski, and Beth Hooker; 6 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Howard Bredin, William Bredin, Dr. Robert Bredin; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her mother, Marie Bredin; sisters-in-law, Lois Bredin, Carolyn Bredin, and Joyce Bredin. A CELEBRATION of Alby’s life will be held 11:00 AM Monday at Unity Reformed Church with Pastor Kyle DeYoung officiating. VISITATION with the family will be from 2-5 PM today (Sunday) at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100. Burial will take place in Restlawn Cemetery. MEMORIALS to the Endowment Funds of Muskegon Christian School or Western Michigan Christian High School will be appreciated.
