Al was a very special and caring person, met him when he was visiting my Brother in New Richmond, Ohio. We had just moved to New Richmond and he came and gave me suggestions on trimming a couple of Dogwood trees, the next year they came out beautifully.
My Brother filled me in on all the good that Al did and continued doing. I e-mailed Al many times, and he always e-mailed me back right away. This time I didn't receive and answer, so I prayed that all ways well and he is with his Family in Heaven.
I moved to Ellensburg, Washington last year and Al kept up with me.
He was a Loving, Caring, Sharing Person.

Sorry to see that Al has passed. I was wondering why I hadn't heard from him for a while and tried to call him but phone was disconnected. Met Al about 25 years ago when we would to Florida for our anual CR get together and for many years after. We became good friends and he came to Chicago to see us. I had a shop and he bought many things at my store and I gave him many of my records. I even took him around to many resale shops so he could aquire some more records and autographs. He expecially loved a large painting of a girl and cat that I had and often told me that it was one of his proudest posessions. He was so glad that I had let him aquire it from me. He loved his cats so much. We often emailed each other. I will miss him very much and also will miss the talks that we had together. I knew he was ill but it's still hard to lose a friend.

Al was a one-of-a kind person. We'll remember him for his passion and enthusiasm for the performing arts. His legacy will live on through the A.J. Flogge Performing Arts Collection at Kent State University Libraries. We'll miss you Al.

What a wonderful, loving and giving man! Hope he receives Heaven's Academy Award for his talent, energy and joy he brought to so many. He was the gift that will always be remembered for so many things about himself, and truly another gift to leave his collection for all to see.

As a little girl Hardy Herpolsheimer's was the funnest place to go!
Riding up and down the escalator until we were instructed to stop (by both parents and store clerks), Rudolph and the Reindeer were there, and the game was to try to pronounce the entire store name as fast as you can. I believe it came out "Howdy Hewpelshimers", and look there is "Mr Howdy" ! Always with a smile, it was fun to look
for "Mr. Hardy", later to be "Mr. Herpolsheimer" before we all knew him as "Al". It just
wasn't the same if you spent hours there and did not see him.

With sincere sympathy to the family, hoping the good memories will help you through this time. We surely appreciate all he did for the community for so many years...

Al was a very kind and thoughtful person. He was a customer of mine at the bank and even came in to celebrate my retirement on April 30th. He often brought us candy as a show of appreciation. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. God bless you Al.
