Mr. Albert Kooi Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. Albert “Al” Kooi, Jr., age 79, passed away Monday, January 6, 2014 in Fremont, MI. He was born in Muskegon on December 6, 1934 to Albert and Martha (Klein) Kooi, Sr. Al was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He had been a supervisor at Howmet before his retirement. After retiring, he worked part-time for Home Depot. Al was an active member of Olivet Evangelical Free Church. He loved singing and music, especially the Gaithers. On July 25, 1958, Al married the former Barbara J. Dutmer in Muskegon and she survives him along with two sons, Roger (Beth) Kooi and Rick (Kim) Kooi; one daughter-in-law, Renee Kooi; seven grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; three sisters, Lois Wolz, Eunice Adams and Esther (Elmer) Tjapkes; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Paul Spoelman and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Bob Kooi. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Friday at Olivet Evangelical Free Church with Rev. Craig Cramblet officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to his service. MEMORIALS to his family to help with funeral expenses would be appreciated.
