Mr. Albert L. Mancuso's Obituary
Albert Luigi Mancuso, age 84, passed away Monday, November 3, 2014 after fighting a courageous battle with cancer and having a recent stroke. Abbie was born in Ontario, Canada on October 24, 1930 to James and Assunta (DiBattista) Mancuso. In 1955, Abbie moved to the United States and met the love of his life, Phyllis (Napierkowski). Abbie married Phyllis in 1957 and they were happily married for 57 years. Albert is survived by his wife, Phyllis Mancuso and their 4 children, Albert Mancuso, Jr., Cindy Hysell (Larry), Lisa Geresy (Jim), Chris Mancuso (Laurie); 5 grandchildren, Brandon Hysell, Ashley Hysell, Chandler Mancuso, Jasmine Mancuso, and Christian Geresy; siblings, Elizabeth, Mary, and Joseph. He was preceded in death by a sister Doreen. Abbie was one of the first to open an authentic Italian pizzeria in Muskegon. He was the co-owner of Sorrento’s Restaurant from 1957-1995. Abbie’s favorite sports were hockey and golf, which he played routinely until the age of 62. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis de Sales Marian Chapel on Friday, November 7, at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Fr. Philip P. Salmonowicz presiding. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at church.
