Mrs. Alberta A. Martin's Obituary
Mrs. Alberta A. Martin, 91, passed away early Tuesday morning, October 7, 2014, in Muskegon. She was born April 14, 1923 in Lyons, Mississippi to Robert and Martha (Peterson) Spruill. She had been the director of the Muskegon Heights Action Center, and was a member of Angel Community Church. Mrs. Martin was a past member of the Eastern Star, enjoyed reading poetry, bingo, reading books, traveling, making bead jewelry, but most of all she loved her family and her Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband John D. Martin on August 18, 1973. SURVIVORS include 7 chlidren, Mary Kirk of Chicago, Doris (Cherzell) Williams of Chicago, Barbara (Andrew) Jones of Muskegon, Preston (Vida) Martin of Ann Arbor, Ray Martin of Muskegon, Bailey (Susie) Martin of O’Fallon, IL, Lynette (Murvin) Harris of Ypsilanti; 25 grandchildren, and a host of great and great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 2 sons, John Spruill and Ronnie Peterson; and 2 brothers, Robert and Walter Peterson. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Angel Community Church, 446 Ada Ave., Muskegon, with visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
