Alberta Wright's Obituary
Mrs. Alberta A. Wright, age 101, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, May 6, 2021. She was born on October 24, 1919 to Derk and Nellie Kolkema in Muskegon. Berta married Carleton Wright on September 2, 1948 and together they were blessed with 71 years of marriage before he passed away on December 28, 2019. Berta was a strong-willed woman who raised five children. She worked with her husband at the airport he ended up owning, Community Corporate Air of Fremont, as well as on their blueberry farm, Wright Farms, for many, many years. Berta and Carl were members of First Free Methodist Church, where Berta also worked as a secretary. She was known for her cooking and baking, especially her famous carrot cake. Berta was well loved by her family, who will remember her jovial smile and funny jokes. Berta will be missed by her children, Carleton (Cynthia) Wright, Richard (Ann) Wright, Sandy Judd-Tyler (Dan Vander Myde), Roger Wright and Carol (Jonathan) Huffman; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and special friend, Bill Mills. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; daughters-in-law, Holly (Kelley) Wright and Sandy P. (Brooks) Wright; son-in-law, John Tyler; and sister, Henrietta Graham. A Combined Outdoor Memorial Service for Carl and Alberta will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 4PM at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI, 49444. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service from 3-4PM.
