Al Deal was an incredible guy to work for and a good friend. He will be greatly missed by my wife and I. Our best to Connie and the rest of your family. He was a real gentleman.##imported-begin##Jim Garzelloni##imported-end##
My feeble words cannot adequately express the sadness in Al's passing. I thank God that Don Jones allowed me to be a part of his family and share discussions and time with Al and Connie in Spring Lake as well as at K-College. Shane, my son, and I will always remember his gentle manners, fun of discussion and genuine love of life and people.##imported-begin##Terence P. Braden III,DO##imported-end##
I became acquainted with Al during my early high school days at Wayland High School. He, of course, was a highly respected and successful coach at Hopkins High School. He and my coach, Walt Gillett, were the best of friends. They both are at the top of my list of mentors and friends who had a great deal of influence in my life as I also became a Basketball coach at Wayland and Otsego High School.
We crossed paths many times at various sports functions, games, state tournaments and the Michigan Sports Sages. Al knew everyone on a first name basis, a trait many of us would truly love to possess.
Family members have every right to be very proud of Al and his many accomplishments
Respectfully,

The Deal Family: The MIAA family wishes to extend our sympathy to your family in the earthly death of your husband and father and our friend, leader and colleague Al. At the same time we take comfort and courage in his entrance into his eternal home as a believer in the death of Jesus Christ for human sin. Commissioner Al Deal will long be remembered in our circles for his outstanding work to keep educational sport a meaningful experience for so many student-athletes. Connie,
You and Al were such wonderful neighbors when we lived next door to you at Windrift. We remember your boys so well, Rich & Craig and especially Doug and Don because Don was in high school, maybe a senior then, and Doug was so fascinated by our “baby” Ryan. Doug would come over every day, maybe several times a day, to ask about the baby. Jane and I talk often about those days. Doug swimming in the pool like a fish, my periodic evening talks with Al in your den, your beautiful Pontiac convertible, and your marvelous daiquiris on the deck in the summertime! Please know our thoughts are with you at this time and that we will always remember Al.##imported-begin##Jim and Jane Bauschke##imported-end##
