Alex T. Hoeker's Obituary
Alex T. Hoeker, age 98, passed away Friday, June 25, 2021. He was born September 11, 1922 in Muskegon to Gerrit and Jennie (Swagman) Hoeker. Alex was a U.S. Army Veteran and proudly served his country during WWII. He worked over 22 years for CWC Textron prior to his retirement in 1987. On August 28, 1948, he married the love of his life, the former Arloa R. Timmer, in Muskegon. Alex was a member of Unity Reformed Church, volunteered for the Red Cross for 17 years, was a member of MAPS, and was part of the Leather Helmet Gang. He also enjoyed reading and traveling. He is survived by his wife, Arloa; 2 children: Sue Hermanson of Decatur, AL and Gregory (Mauneen) Hoeker of Tacoma, WA; 7 grandchildren: Elizabeth, Kristina, Nicole, Trevor, Justin, Garrett, and Elijah; 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Alex was preceded in death by his parents; son and daughter-in-law, Charles (Sharon) Hoeker; daughter, Priscilla Gowell; 1 brother; and 5 sisters. A Celebration of Alex’s Life will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Unity Reformed Church (1521 Porter Rd.) with Pastor David Celeskey officiating. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. MEMORIALS to The Harbor Hospice Foundation, if desired.
