Alexander James Christopher's Obituary
Mr. Alexander James “Alex” Christopher, age 26 of Muskegon, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. His passing was peaceful, and he was surrounded by family and friends at Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids.
Alex, and his twin brother Bryce, were born to Sharon K. Christopher and Desi Mancilla in Muskegon on January 2, 1997. He graduated from Fruitport High School and attended Muskegon Community College. Alex was in the last year of his Apprenticeship as a Pipefitter at UA Local 174 in Coopersville, Michigan. He was proud to be part of the union. Alex enjoyed fishing, hunting, hockey, and spending weekends at his best friend, Derek Fialek’s, property Up North. Good times were had by all, including his twin brother, Bryce, his nephews, Wyatt and Levi; and friends Peyton, Cooper, and Nick. He also loved to spend time at his Abuelo’s home swimming, grilling with family and learning to cook his favorite Mexican foods. He loved to cook, grill, and have bonfires. Alex was also a skilled craftsman and enjoyed making furniture.
Alex is survived by his mother, Sharon K. Christopher; twin brother, Bryce Christopher; his nephews, Wyatt and Levi; grandmother, Nancy Chandonnet; aunts and uncles, Brenda Beland, David Christopher, Chari and Rob VanSuilichem, Bill Beland; cousins, Tucker and Paige Beland; the Chandonnet aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his dog, Bueller, who grew up with Alex. Alex is survived by his father, Desi Mancilla; Abuelos Juan and Olivia Mancilla, Tio Romie Mancilla, and Tia Alexia Mancilla-Jackson. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Arthur H. Christopher and step-grandfather, Roger R. Chandonnet.
A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held from 2-5 PM Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the U.A. Local 174 Hall (1008 O’Malley Drive, Coopersville, MI 49404) with a TIME OF REMEMBRANCE at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Alex Christopher UA Scholarship fund established to help new apprentices in need of equipment and supplies.
