Alexander L. Kusz's Obituary
Alexander Louis Kusz, age 99, passed away at his home in Muskegon, MI, on Monday, January 22, 2024. Alexander was born on December 6, 1924 to Joseph and Magdelene Kusz in Ironwood, MI. He attended Ironwood Public School and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Japan, the Philippines, and New Caledonia during WWII. He earned various ribbons and medals during his service, and also worked for some time as a military police escort guard before returning to the U.S. On September 17, 1949, he married the former Doris Sharp, and they spent 66 wonderful years raising their family together until she preceded him in death in 2015. He worked for 39 years as a welder at Shaw Walker in Muskegon, retiring in 1987, and was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Alexander liked bowling, gardening, and playing cribbage and other card games. He was a fan of Detroit Sports and was a champion horseshoe player. He enjoyed hunting and going to his kids’ sporting events, and he was very proud of his Polish heritage. More than anything he loved spending time with his family.
Alexander will be lovingly remembered by three children: Sharon (Charles) Hall, Jeffrey Kusz, and James Kusz; three grandchildren: Craig (Kellie) Hall, Rachel Hall, and Jared (Alise) Kusz; and five great-grandchildren: Cameron and William Hall, and Cohen, Silas, and Audrina Kusz. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Magdelene Kusz; wife, Doris Kusz; son, Mark Kusz; five brothers: John, Chester, Bernard, Walter, and Edward Kusz; and three sisters: Mary Supercynski, Amelia Corsi, and Antoinette Carlson.
Per Alexander’s wishes no services are being held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Harbor Hospice Foundation or The Lewy Body Dementia Association. Arrangements by The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd, Muskegon, MI, 49441.
