Alexis "Lexie" Mari's Obituary
Alexis Mari (Chittenden), age 8, of Spring Lake passed away after a courageous battle April 18, 2016 at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. She was born July 1, 2007 in North Carolina to Craig Chittenden and Samantha Mari. She was lovingly raised by her daddy, Craig, her nana, Lynne, and her papa, Mike.
Lexi was a 2nd grader at Edgewood Elementary School and a member of the Fruitport Champion Force Cheerleading Team. She loved all animals, especially cats, as well as riding her scooter and being with friends and family. She had a special gift and she shared it with anyone who knew her.
A special thank you to all of the doctors, nurses, and Child Life specialists. Your individual skills made a huge difference in her life. Thank you also to Make-A-Wish, U of M Motts Children’s Hospital, DeVos Children’s Hospital, Ronald McDonald House, and Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. We always felt like family.
Lexi is survived by her parents, Craig Chittenden and Samantha Mari; two sisters, Mariajeanette Mari and Joanna Smith; grandparents, Mike and Lynne Chittenden, Jeanette Berry; great-grandparents: Dick Chittenden, Mary DeWitt, Gary and Joanne Perrault, and Wilda Miel; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her aunt, Candace Miel; two great-grandfather, Richard Miel and Herb DeWitt; and great-grandmother, Kathy Chittenden.
A celebration of life will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Fruitport Middle School. Memorial contributions in memory of Alexis may be given at Fifth-Third Bank – Special Fund for Alexis Mari. Please sign the family’s online guestbook at www.vbkfuneralhome.com.
