Alex J. Chingman's Obituary
Mr. Alex J. Chingman, age 79, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2012 at home. He was born February 14, 1933 in Muskegon to John and Mary (Morsaw) Chingman, and resided in the area all his life. Alex was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served his country in the Korean War. He worked at Sealed Power for 42 years, before retiring in 1993. Alex was a member of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians, and Past President of the Muskegon Kateri Circle for many years. He was a Cedar Fan Carver, and taught classes for the Muskegon County Museum and Michigan State University. Alex enjoyed golfing, bowling, and coached and played baseball for many years. Survived by his devoted wife, Marcie; his 3 children, Alex Paul Chingman, Donald Gene Chingman (Amanda, and A.J.), Lori Lin (Tim) Crampton (Taylor, Kelsey, Neil) and Sasha (Dan) Jacobitz; and great grandson, Jaydin. Also survived by step-daughter, Sally (Mark) Parrish (Makala). He was preceded in death by his parents, and 12 siblings. FUNERAL SERVICES will be 1PM Tuesday at
The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 with Rev. Homer Marsh officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 1 hour prior to the services, from 12-1 PM.
